MCA provides investment advisory services, participant orientation and periodic participant education. Our investment advisory services include not only initial and periodic risk-managed modeling of broadly diversified investment portfolios to meet various objectives, risk tolerances and time horizons, but also researching and determining the funds that we believe will provide the best net total return for the various asset classes in each model. This approach allows each participant to select the model that most closely matches his or her individual objectives or appetite for risk. Providing information derived from indexed-based hypothetical portfolios assists participants in making better, more informed decisions regarding what model is most suitable for them and their particular circumstances.
As part of our ongoing obligations to retirement plan clients and participants, MCA regularly evaluates available alternatives for administration, custody, trading and trustee services. Factors we consider include capability, capacity, cost-effectiveness, "user-friendliness" and other criteria. We strive to assemble the team that is best for a particular retirement plan given its size, plan terms and sponsor objectives.
Our team's custody and trading members hold and safeguard plan assets, execute investment instructions, receive and record contributions, process distributions, withdrawals and loans and provided paying agent services (e.g., 1099-R issuance and tax withholding and reporting). We strive, where appropriate, to obtain asset-based pricing, which means that there are no separate transaction fees payable (which would otherwise detract from investment performance, especially when investing smaller deferral amounts).
Our administrative team member makes sure that deferrals and any sponsor contributions are properly directed into chosen investment options, takes care of record keeping , sends trades to the trading team member, makes available account statements, provides online, real-time account inquiry capabilities for participants, does necessary compliance testing, prepares necessary government forms and assists in the operational and logistics parts of the employee orientation and enrollment process. Another service provided is in-house daily record valuation and record-keeping, which improves the ease and efficiency of the system and, therefore, the participants' investment experience.
